January 30th is the 7th annual Stroll for Epilepsy inside the Polaris Fashion Place in Columbus, Ohio. We are proud to announce that Elizabeth is the host child this year, learn about Elizabeth below. To make a donation please visit: http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=333400 . Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing those of you that can make it. If you cannot attend, please consider donating, all proceeds benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Central Ohio.
A little about Elizabeth~ Elizabeth, now five years old, was diagnosed as having partial complex seizures at 10 months of age and has overcome years of testing, prescriptive treatments and surgery to find herself virtually seizure-free for the past year. Her family knows that things can change at any minute and are happy with where Elizabeth is and they are enjoying life.
What is Epilepsy? Epilepsy is a common condition that causes repeated seizures. The cause of epilepsy is still unknown. The seizures are caused by bursts of electrical activity in the brain that are not normal. Seizures may cause problems with muscle control, movement, speech, vision, or awareness. They usually don’t last very long, but they can be scary. The good news is that treatment usually works to control and reduce seizures.
Epilepsy is not a type of mental illness or retardation. It generally does not affect how well you think or learn. You can’t catch epilepsy from someone else (like a cold), and they can’t catch it from you.

Thank you to all of the islanders that participated in the WildAid chat on Jan. 28, we had a roaring good time! WildAid was extremely impressed with the questions that were asked. Below we have posted a few questions from the chat. Additional questions and answers will be posted as we work to complete the second Tiger GoodQuest goal!
The island has done an amazing job, there are still 21 days left to help tigers. We need to catalog 77,255 tigers in order to donate the 10th camera. Read below how crucial the camera traps are in the effort to save tigers from extinction.
How many tigers do you think will be cataloged in China?

Nicely done! On Tuesday, the final items were purchased from the Haiti Relief Store. With your virtual donations, Xeko will now be able to give a REAL donation to Mercy Corps. One of the much-needed items is water for earthquake survivors. Not only is water so significant because right now their water systems are not functioning properly, so there is a lack of available water to drink. The temperatures there are also high. As we are experiencing winter weather here, the average temperature in Haiti is 90 degrees during this time of year.
We have heard from the island that you all would like to do more on the island the help with Haiti. So, we want to hear your ideas. Please send a message to support@elfisland.com, with your username and your idea of ways we can help Haiti on the island. See you on the island, and remember keep Gaming for Good!

Tomorrow, January 21, is Squirrel Appreciation Day! Did you know there are over 300 species of squirrels around the world? Squirrels come in all shapes, sizes and colors, including grey squirrels, red squirrels, fox squirrels, flying squirrels, and more.
Show your appreciation for these furry little critters by getting outside and counting how many squirrels you see. Report back here with your count. Bonus if you can identify squirrel common names.
In celebration of Squirrel Appreciation Day, Xeko is offering the Sumatran Flying Squirrel Xeko Pal, made with earth-friendly soy fabric, for only $11.99 at the Official Xeko Store . That’s $5 off the normal price, available now through this Sunday. When you buy a Sumatran Flying Squirrel Xeko Pal, you also get a code to care for a virtual endangered animal in game.
